AV01 Catarratto Orange – 75cl

Rallo’s AV01 Catarratto Orange shows a golden yellow color to the eye. The nose releases aromas of white-fleshed fruit and elderflower that intertwine with hints of Mediterranean scrub and hints of grapefruit and yellow citrus. The taste is intense with good body supported by lively freshness and vertical minerality that persists in the long floral and citrus finish. At the table it goes well with cheeses and vegetarian dishes as well as with tasty white fish recipes shellfish and crustaceans.

Catarrattoin purity, best expression of the vineyard in Pattipiccolo, Alcamo. A grape variety in which Azienda Agricola Rallo has invested and believes a lot, here offered in the orange version, free of added sulfites.

AV01 tells our story, a child of the Alcamese territory and an unequivocally natural choice. The label features, in two poses, the figure of Andrea Vesco whose name the wine bears, AV01, and which from a distance could be interpreted as an inscription-tribute “to you.” Excellent companion to soups and stews, legumes, and fresh vegetables. Ideal with fish, shellfish and white meat dishes, medium-aged cheeses.

Rallo’s AV01 Catarratto Orange was produced from 100% Catarratto grapes grown in the territory of Patti Piccolo fraction of Alcamo (TP). The south-facing vineyards lie on sandy soils at an elevation of about 350 meters above sea level.

Harvesting was done by hand in 15-kg crates in September. In the winery, the clusters were softly pressed whole to obtain the must.

The first part of the alcoholic fermentation took place in 50-hectoliter acacia wood barrels for 3 days and was accompanied by a 24-hour maceration in contact with the skins. Then fermentation was continued in stainless steel at a temperature of 16-20°C for 14 days, called malolactic fermentation.

Aging was 6 months in stainless steel plus 2 months in bottle.
